Healthcare planning for a two-facility jail system already built around a contracted medical provider and four accreditations.
Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office runs the 2,166-bed Main Detention Center in West Palm Beach, built to house high-risk inmates, federal inmates and people needing special medical or mental health care, plus the 998-bed West Detention Center in Belle Glade. The department already delivers medical, dental and psychological services under contract with a medical provider and holds accreditation from the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission, the American Correctional Association, PREA standards and the National Commission on Correctional Health Care. GENESYS would staff a clinical program sized to both facilities and built to hold up against all four.
GENESYS is physician-owned, with a named medical director accountable for clinical policy and NCCHC-aligned standards of care, and clinical decisions made by doctors rather than a minimum-cost staffing plan. Schedule an assessment and we will walk through a staffing plan sized to Palm Beach County's two facilities.
Every GENESYS contract is built from the same nine services, sized to the facility's population and staffing model. Each one has its own page with the detail.
We will walk through a staffing plan, coverage hours and how the transition would work for your population.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Department of Corrections runs two facilities: the 2,166-bed Main Detention Center on Gun Club Road in West Palm Beach, built to house high-risk inmates, federal inmates and people who need special medical or mental health care, and the 998-bed West Detention Center in Belle Glade.
Medical, dental and psychological services are already provided under contract with a medical provider, with nursing staff on duty 24 hours a day at each facility, and the department is accredited by the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission, the American Correctional Association, the Prison Rape Elimination Act standards and the National Commission on Correctional Health Care. Any incoming provider has to meet an existing bar across all four, not set one from scratch.
The Main Detention Center's stated purpose includes housing high-risk inmates, federal inmates and people who need special medical or mental health care, on top of its 2,166-bed general population. That is a higher-acuity staffing load than a standard intake jail, concentrated at one West Palm Beach address, while the smaller 998-bed West Detention Center in Belle Glade needs its own, separately staffed, round-the-clock nursing coverage.
PBSO's Department of Corrections already holds accreditation from the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission, the American Correctional Association, the Prison Rape Elimination Act standards and the National Commission on Correctional Health Care, and already delivers medical, dental and psychological services under contract with a medical provider. A new contract does not have to introduce the idea of outsourced care to the department; it has to meet a clinical and documentation standard the county already audits against four separate bodies.
The Vera Institute figure is the median average daily population for the last three years with available data.
Two: the 2,166-bed Main Detention Center on Gun Club Road in West Palm Beach, and the 998-bed West Detention Center in Belle Glade. A healthcare contract covering the county has to staff both, not just the larger West Palm Beach site.
Yes. Its stated purpose includes housing high-risk inmates, federal inmates, and inmates who need special medical or mental health care, in addition to its general population, which calls for higher-acuity physician care concentrated at that site.
Yes, by four bodies: the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission, the American Correctional Association, Prison Rape Elimination Act standards, and the National Commission on Correctional Health Care.
Yes. Medical, dental and psychological services are provided under a contract with a medical provider, with nursing staff on duty 24 hours a day at each facility, so the county already works within an outsourced care model.
If Palm Beach County's next healthcare contract needs to hold up against four accreditation bodies across two facilities, GENESYS can walk your team through what that program would look like.
